Not just detection — function

Sequencing and PCR tell you what's present. DefenSight tells you what it's doing.

Syndromic PCR panels and genomic/proteomic assays are built to identify a known target — fast, specific, and essential for triage. But they answer presence, not consequence: they can't tell you whether an organism is viable or replicating, how a host cell is actually responding, or what's happening when the agent doesn't match a known signature. Imaging is the functional layer that sits alongside sequencing and PCR, not a replacement for either:

  • Vs. syndromic PCR panels — phenotypic, host-response imaging remains informative even for novel, engineered, or unlisted agents, where no genetic target exists to probe for.
  • Vs. sequencing/proteomics — those methods give you a population-level genotype or protein profile at a single time point. Imaging gives you a per-cell phenotype, tracked over time — the same quantitative rigour, applied to what the cell is actually doing rather than what it's carrying.
  • For organoid, microtissue, and cell-line work — quantify phenotypic change, per cell, across infection, drug treatment, or both — not just whether a model responds, but how uniformly, how strongly, and on what timescale.

This is a dual-use capability: the same pipeline that supports CBRN triage supports antimicrobial and vaccine development screening. If your work spans detection and consequence assessment — or genotype and phenotype — this is the layer that connects them.
