Mission-Critical Applications: From Lab to Field

DefenSight applies one core capability — automated, interpretable analysis of pathogen behaviour and host-cell response — across three domains. The same pipeline that characterises biological threats in a research lab also runs at scale in agricultural biosecurity and qualifies assays for research partners. That breadth is deliberate: it proves the method beyond any single programme and gives the platform a stable commercial base alongside its defence application.

Genomic and proteomic assays, and syndromic PCR panels, tell you what's present. DefenSight tells you what it's doing — the functional, per-cell layer that sits alongside detection, not in competition with it.

Biological hazard assessment & countermeasure evaluation.

  • Hazard assessment: lab-validated analytics for pathogen–host kinetics in BSL-2/3 environments, giving a live / dead / replicating triage status for unknown agents.
  • Countermeasure evaluation: quantitative phenotypic readouts that accelerate testing of therapeutics and prophylactics under containment.
  • Forensic-grade analytics: standardised, statistically robust outputs supporting the cross-lab comparability and aligned reporting that biological attribution depends on.
  • Complementary to syndromic PCR & genomic panels: where PCR confirms identity against a known target, DefenSight adds viability, replication, and host-response status, including for novel or engineered agents with no genetic signature to test against.

Environmental surveillance (food chain / spillover)

  • Surveillance in complex matrices: detection of parasitic threats (e.g. Eimeria) in "dirty" samples such as avian or ruminant faecal material.
  • Rapid flock / herd triage: replaces subjective manual microscopy with automated shedding profiles, enabling early intervention in transmissible agricultural outbreaks.
  • Border & transit biosurveillance: label-free identification of cyst-forming protozoan parasites at scale, cutting reagent dependency and time-to-result at agricultural checkpoints.

Assay qualification & high-content infection biology

  • Mechanistic mapping: high-resolution, per-cell phenotypic mapping of cellular injury, organelle stress, and pathogen behaviour, the functional readout alongside genotype or protein-expression data, with biomarker depth applicable to cell-line infection, tissues or drug-treated models.
  • Assay qualification & optimisation: co-designing and validating reproducible imaging pipelines that remove operator bias for research partners.
  • High-content screening: integrated hardware–software workflows for large-scale host–pathogen studies, from primary human cells to animal models.
